(80 days) Called pul biber ("flaked pepper") in Turkish, this variety is famed world-wide for its gentle piquancy and the complexity of flavor it adds when sprinkled over Middle Eastern dishes. The peppers are medium-sized, elongated bells, ripening to deep burgundy-red at full maturity. The thin-walled fruits dry readily, and are then flaked or ground for use as a condiment. The sweet-hot flakes contribute a cumin-like and salty undertone. Originated in the region where southern Turkey meets Syria, and named for the ancient city of Aleppo, astride the old Silk Road. We are proud to offer this outstanding culinary variety that is also a piece of Old World history. Priceless! (Stock seed courtesy of our friend John Ford at Fords Fiery Foods)

What are the pros? Fruiting well
What are the cons? Need support
Started these inside under lights in early March. Almost all the seeds germinated. Nice healthy plants at 8 weeks. It's late July and there are several nice size fruits. Can't wait to dry and explore the flavors! They need to be supported a bit. I used saplings and zip ties.
