Gorgeous beans are half white, half mottled in maroon to chocolate brown. Yields snaps early in the season but primarily grown for shell and dry beans. Mild flavor and firm texture excels in frijoles refritos and amny another Southwestern dish. Occasionally throw a few short runners but shouldn't need support. Takes its name from the markings, which are reminiscent of the famous western pony breed.

What are the pros? early production, heavy yeild

What are the cons? none

Review:

I've grown this cultivar for about 6 years, and it's consistently the earliest producer of snap beans in my garden. They're not the largest plants, and don't need additional support, but they yield heavily. They don't seem to continue to produce as well, or for as long, as some others, but having a big harvest of delicious snap beans super early in the season is worth it. They always grow well for me in the heavy clay soil of central Colorado.
