75 days. Brilliant red carrots are so healthful and unique-looking, sure to add color to your garden. The 8” roots are high in lycopene, which has been shown in studies to help prevent several types of cancer. Crisp roots are at their best when cooked, and this helps to make the lycopene more usable. Very flavorful.

What are the pros? Tasty and beautiful deep color

What are the cons? Seems to take longer to mature

Review:

It tastes like a carrot but subtly different, more carrot-y. I planted end of September and I've been eating them since last month (February) and I wish I planted more of these instead of Amarillos which did not perform well for me. My Atomic Reds came out skinnier but I'm growing in a rather crowded raised bed. But the roots were straight and not hairy. I'll be planting more of these in fall in their own separate container and maybe do a better job thinning for bigger carrots.

What are the pros? Tasty, reliable

What are the cons? Some carrots were white.

Review:

I have grown these for several years and enjoyed them every time. The seeds that are produced germinate well, although I did get some mutated white carrots. I plant mine in August and harvest them through February. Very delicious carrots, my school and community gardeners love them.

Review:

Amazing carrots. I planted them directly in a small patch in the far corner of my garden in mid June. Before planting I fertilized the soil with general organic fertilizer. Once I saw sprouts, I supplemented them once with fish emulsion fertilizer. After that I never watered them out of laziness. At the end of August I harvested medium (6" Length) to huge (1ft) carrots. The color ranged from light orange to deep red. The flavor was powerful and I actually started coughing while eating one of them. The season was cold and wet (Northern MA). I plan on growing these every year.

What are the pros? Beautiful color

Review:

These are a must have for my carrot garden. I love the rich color; almost a deep coral tone. Matured at the same rate as all my other carrots, and are nice sized at 8"-10" long. Mine look just like the picture! I highly recommend!

What are the pros? very rich flavor

What are the cons? none

Review:

I grew 10 varieties last year and this had the best flavor and shape. The deep red color completely saturates the carrot -some reviewers say it doesn't but every Atomic I've grown for the past 3 years has. My favorite thing about this carrot is the flavor is so insanely intense, it's almost SPICY! When I first tried this carrot it got me thinking- what other flavors are out there that I've never tried? Thus began my love affair with heirloom seeds. I blame it all on the Atomic Red.
