I grew these for the first time this year and wow! They got so big - due to our wet year- and kept their flavor! The sweetest carrot ever! I cannot wait to grow them again!

What are the pros? Color

What are the cons? Size and taste

Review:

My poor review of these carrots may have been my personal inability to grow them well. I'm not entirely sure. They were on the small side (4"). They weren't very palatable unless peeled and then the taste improved greatly. They attracted aphids and ants (symbolic relationship). Won't be growing again. :(

What are the pros? Flavor

What are the cons? small hairy roots, few carrots

Review:

These carrots must have really disliked my soil. I grew with Amarillo (which did wonderfully), an orange carrot and purple sun carrots. This is the only carrot that did not produce. The few carrots harvested were tiny and had the hairiest roots on them. The flavor from those tiny hairy roots was delicious! A little spicy and a real treat. I will try again when I have a raised bed setup for carrots. Perhaps they will fare better in such a setup.

What are the pros? Tasty and beautiful deep color

What are the cons? Seems to take longer to mature

Review:

It tastes like a carrot but subtly different, more carrot-y. I planted end of September and I've been eating them since last month (February) and I wish I planted more of these instead of Amarillos which did not perform well for me. My Atomic Reds came out skinnier but I'm growing in a rather crowded raised bed. But the roots were straight and not hairy. I'll be planting more of these in fall in their own separate container and maybe do a better job thinning for bigger carrots.

What are the pros? Tasty, reliable

What are the cons? Some carrots were white.

Review:

I have grown these for several years and enjoyed them every time. The seeds that are produced germinate well, although I did get some mutated white carrots. I plant mine in August and harvest them through February. Very delicious carrots, my school and community gardeners love them.
