Until I grew this lettuce, I thought I couldn't grow tasty lettuce in Texas. I grew this lettuce as a winter crop and it stood up to the cold and really grew all winter. Three plants supplied my family with lettuce through the winter (I covered it one night) and I took bags of lettuce to the local Food Bank. We can get some days of really warm weather any time of year, and that's when most of my previous lettuce became bitter. Australian Yellow stayed sweet until we got consecutive ninety degree days. It will be a regular in my garden.
