At last, someone has bred a basil to accentuate the stunning flower heads! Still a culinary basil, but the rich purple flower heads are huge! Use the flowers in arrangements, the leaves in your favorite recipes. Very new and very choice—a milestone of conventional plant breeding!

What are the pros? Lush and pretty

What are the cons? None

Review:

When all other basil had to be pulled due to Downy Mildew, this Cardinal basil just kept on going, producing crisp, vigorous foliage, and...finally, pretty purple flowers late summer. Not every plant bloomed for us, which was not our goal, but the delight of having basil with our tomatoes when all other basil got diseased, is priceless! Does not seem to be bothered much by this disease. Will definately grow this again in my garden!

What are the pros? Easy, THE SMELL! pest free!

What are the cons? NONE!

Review:

By far one of the best and easiest plants to grow! I have multiple extra trays because it grew so well! The smell, even from seedlings, can be over powering and its an eye catcher once it gets growing! I've already run two batches of leaves through a dehydrator and they come out very well. Fusarium wilt has wiped out my pepper crop, multiple varieties, but basil seems unaffected by it even when growing in the same garden as my peppers! there are a hand full of leaves on one plant that have brown spots on them, everything else is pristine. I'll be growing this every year, both as potted plants to sell, fresh, and dehydrated leaves! Its a must have for any garden or even a window! Does well in pots! Probably the easiest to grow plant out there!

What are the pros? Impressive flowers

What are the cons? None

Review:

Started seeds early, easy to grow. From pesto to flower arrangements, a versatile plant that lasted into the late season. Bushy plants are about 18" tall and will be in the flower border this year. Enjoy!

What are the pros? Unique, smells nice

What are the cons? None

Review:

This is really easy to grow. It was one of the first ones to germinate out of many other seeds I planted. The smell is different than ordinary basil. It has a bit of a fennel seed fragrance as well.
