What are the pros? Germination Rate, Growth rate,

What are the cons? none

Review:

I planted 4 to 5 seeds in 6 inches pots assuming only 1 or 2 would germinate. I was wrong! Every single seed germinated so I ended with at least 4 plants on each pot. I live in Miami so the sun is intense and they love it. Instead of separating them I allowed them to grow in those pots. I started pruning very early plants were only 3 inches max at the time and as soon i saw the new set of leafs under the top I pruned. This turned to be the best idea ever, all the plants are very bushy and thick almost like topiaries not only I am getting more basil than I can use but they look really pretty and lush. I just have to make sure they get enough water since the pots are a bit small for them, thats the only thing I would do different since this herb grows so much and so fast. I think the key is to keep pruning the tops very aggressively to generate lots of new growth and avoid them flowering. I use it for salads, soups, pesto, drinks, and ice cream.

Review:

We love this basil. We love it! The more you cut it, the more it grows back even larger. Our leaves grew as large as MY HAND--not just the palm but my entire, flat hand! We grow in an OMRI Listed mixture of compost, coconut coir, AZOMITE and vermiculite. WOW! This basil LOVES that mixture! Our plants could grow upwards of four feet but we cut them back so frequently as to not allow them to go to seed. Of our 14 plants of the 2014 growing season, we got enough basil for pesto every week, canning over 100 pints of marinara and freezer cubes of pesto to last all winter and then some! These are easy to germinate without transplant shock of any kind. Just an all around dream of an herb! Truly an awesome purchase from Baker Creek! THANK YOU!

What are the pros? Size, production, aroma

What are the cons? Not the best tasting, but good

Review:

I planted several plants around my garden. I've never seen basil plants so large. These got four feet tall. I couldn't keep up with cutting back the seeds so I just let them seed mostly all summer. I still had good tasting basil and more than I could give away. They really help attract beneficials to my tomato bed. Only negative is that I don't think it's the best tasting Italian basil, but still good.

What are the pros? Easy to grow

Review:

Of all the basils that we grow this is by far the easiest. Great for classic Pesto or Caprese salads, it's a must have for the garden. Excellent germination, fastest of all the basils to harvest size, great yield, flavorful and incredibly fragrant. If this is the first time you grow basil you should pick this one.

What are the pros? Great taste

What are the cons? None

Review:

I have been experimenting with hydroponics and thought I could try some of these seeds out. They share a "deep water system" bucket with 2 other netpots with herbs per 5 galon bucket with areation and using Hydrop. fertilizer. The yields are great and they keep comming back after each harvest. The taste is great and my wife is overjoyed to have chopped frozen basel for the coming winter
