What are the pros? Amazing taste/smell

What are the cons? flowers quickly

Review:

I found these plants to have a more mild basil flavor than others I've tried, but I like it more. The best part is harvesting it and having your hands smell like Lemon's all day. I know people say basil is best before it flowers, but I've enjoyed the flavor more since it has flowered.

What are the pros? Great taste

What are the cons? goes to seed quickly

Review:

I made basil lemonade with this variety and it was very good. I also found myself munching on the leaves of my lemon basil plants while I was weeding. It was very easy to grow and productive. Though like all my other basil varieties, goes to seed rather quickly once plants are established. I should also note that these plants survived an unexpected frost early in the season.

What are the pros? always there

What are the cons? none

Review:

planted about 10 years ago, and it reliably self-seeds somewhere in the garden, always, ever since. birds love the seed heads, too. i use the young leaves and tender growth tips for a delicious lemony pesto on fish, broccoli, and pasta. a few branches in the steaming water give beans a nice flavor without sauce. lemon basil is a good and lasting friend!

Review:

This has grown well in my Tropical (Thai) climate, even during rainy season. I wasn't sure I'd like 'lemon' basil when I ordered it, but now I've tasted it I can say that I do like it. It's refreshing and light. Nice.

The best for freezing pesto

Review:

This cultivar IMO is the best for making huge batches of pesto and freezing. It doesn't loose it's fresh green color ( I never blanch, too much work) or fresh zingy lemony taste. Trader Joe's sells a lemon pasta, and pesto made from this over that, with some saute'd shrimp is one of my go-to fast but delicious meals I serve when friends drop by. It tastes like summer in March, when you reallllllly need it here in the Northeast.
