What are the pros? Love flavor and versatility!
What are the cons? No dislikes
Planted this for the last two years and LOVE IT, LOVE IT!!! I especially love it in lime butter cookies YUMMY!!! Any place you use lime you can use this - sweet or savory. I like it mixed in with a regular lettuce salad for a great depth of flavor. I've grown it in pots or in the ground. Both work but in the ground yields more. Thank you Baker Creek!!!!! Bought extra to share with friends!

I grew this in my garden two years ago. I love this basil. The smell and taste is amazing! Started indoors and then planted in a raised bed filled with compost.

What are the pros? Smells so great
What are the cons? Slower growing
I tried to get an early start on these indoors but despite a warm environment and very sunny window, there was no sign of germination even after more than 2 weeks. I then tried germination in damp paper towels and got 100% germination in a matter of days. I transferred sprouts to small pots. 2" seedlings transplanted nicely outdoors in early May into raised beds heavily amended with compost, but due to cool, rainy weather, they grew slowly and had issues with leaf tips going brown. Now that June has brought hotter weather, they are starting to take off. The leaves have an intense fragrance--more citrus than basil--with a very slight bitterness that could be due to early struggling or maybe just part of the flavor profile. It might go away later, as plants are still small. I don't find the hint of bitterness unpleasant, but some may. I'll grow it again, though, for its wonderful, unique flavor. Maybe I'll have better luck with the weather next time, and I'll be better about timing.

What are the pros? Interesting flavor
What are the cons? Taste, drought tolerance
Seeds started indoors died when transplanted. Direct seeded ones grow well when kept well watered. Not as big as other basils. Tastes like lemon balm. Plenty of seed
