A delicious, very sweet cucumber that is usually picked small and does not need peeling as the skin is very tender. This variety is very popular in the Mediterranean, having been developed in Israel at a kibbutz farm. Now becoming popular with Americans because of the fruits’ fine flavor and high yields. They are also burpless and have great shelf life.

What are the pros? none

What are the cons? not for cold summers

Review:

I try these last Summer, they grew just fine, they flowered set one fruit and stopped there. I had 4 plants that gave me 2 mini cucumbers, taste was ok , they were not sick, no bugs, I guess they just had not been ok with either soil or the weather because we had colder nights troughout Summer. I am in zone 5b in Canada.

What are the pros? Never bitter

What are the cons? Easy to miss when picking

Review:

This variety grew well for me in the hot, humid Southeast and did well despite borer grubs, stink bugs, Mexican bean beetles and powdery mildew. I planted them along a chain link fence and kept them off the ground as much as possible. The cucumbers tasted great and were never bitter but were not always easy to find before they got big enough that they would get big seeds. If the fruits had some yellow or white on their skin to make finding them easier they would be perfect. I think that drastic fluctuations in watering probably led to some of the misshapen fruits that other reviewers mentioned because when we got lots of rain after a dry spell a few of the fruits would get bigger at the end. I also got the occasional skin scarring other reviewers mentioned but it was from bug damage and nothing that wouldn't have occurred with any other variety of cucumber and I just used those myself, peeling where necessary. All in all, I like this variety and will plant again

What are the pros? Not a lot.

What are the cons? Not vigorous, odd fruit.

Review:

These were not vigorous or productive plants. The fruit was misshapen and the skin was not uniform. They were tasty enough but I will look for a better variety for my Michigan garden.

What are the pros? Nice size, decent flavor

What are the cons? Not abundant yield

Review:

These plants would start to grow and then die off. It was the least hardy of all the cucumbers that I planted. I did end up with 4 plants--in hopes that I'd have enough to make pickles. The most cucumbers I had at any one time was 3. By the time more would be ready, the others would be too soft. Three is not enough for me to make pickles. Flavor was decent, but yield was poor. Buy these if you are looking for a nice eating cucumber.
