Annual—Strikingly different, recently discovered sweet pea species in a color previously unknown in sweet pea—bright buttercup yellow! The red-veined standard looks orange until viewed up close—then the curious intricacy of the red veins over paler background can be appreciated. Rather small, very fragrant flowers, but the scent is different from ordinary garden sweet peas—very distinctive! Delicate-looking vines appreciate some support; reach 3-4 feet. Also excellent in hanging baskets. Native to Turkey, and looked upon as a prospective resource for future breeding work.

What are the pros? Unique

What are the cons? None

Review:

I'm always looking for something different for our annual community plant sale and bought a pack of these seeds last year. They germinated nicely and looked great for the sale but were not blooming at the time and perhaps were too funky for most buyers. So in the end, I got all the little planted terra-cotta pots and put them altogether on the wide rail of our back deck. A few weeks later they were in full bloom and I absolutely loved them--the colors, the fragrance, the habit.... Liked them so much I saved the seed for this year. If you like something different with a great story behind it, I suggest this pea.

What are the pros? Pretty.

What are the cons? Poisonous.

Review:

I purchased these, but will not be growing them due to the warning on the package, "the seeds, pods, and plants are poisonous." The site description did not specify the plants were poisonous.
