80-110 days (long-day) Flat, Italian "cipollini" variety. These delicious, small white onions command a high price at specialty markets. Very sweet and mild, used in Italy for pickling, grilling, and in salads. We have select Italian seed.

What are the pros? easy to grow

What are the cons? look different

Review:

I can't comment on the taste of these onions, as I haven't tried them yet - they look large, and white - which is why I had to recheck what I had ordered, as I thought I had ordered "flat" onions. they didn't grow flat for me, definately, large, white and round. I'm sure they will taste good. I will check recommend to a friend, but they don't look like what was advertised.

What are the pros? not sure yet

What are the cons? very slow germination

Review:

This is my first year trying to grow those...started the seeds indoors in February...germination is very slow, seedlings that poked out are growing extremely slow under light as well....

What are the pros? Tasty, handy for fresh cooking

What are the cons? small

Review:

South Dakota is long day (derka derr). Just because it has "South" in the name doesn't make it a southern state... [insert insult to previous reviewer's intelligence here]. That said, I've grown similar, I think they were the same, but called something different. These are great onions if you like adding a bit of onion to other dishes without having to bag and refrigerate the other half of a larger onion. Did pretty will in my amended northern LP sandy Michigan soil, which is still long day, even though it's the "Lower Peninsula" which "coincidentally" is "parallel" with "Southern" Dakota. ;) ;) ;) love you guys

What are the pros? tasty

What are the cons? none!

Review:

this is a LONG DAY onion...more suited to the northern day length. day length has an effect on bulb size and shape. if you're in the south look for short or intermediate day onions.

What are the pros? Still good onions

What are the cons? Not true to form

Review:

I loved the onions too bad that only about 30% of the looked flat like these onions are supposed to look like. Most of the onions that grew out the these seeds looked white and round(not flat).
