A fairly early, black variety from France that is of medium to large size. Fruit are round to irregular in shape and of a deep purple-pink color. This variety has finely flavored flesh that is well balanced and sweet. It is a great choice for home gardeners with shorter seasons.

What are the pros? flavor, shapes, FLAVOR!

What are the cons? none

Review:

Excellent flavor, not as deep as Pierce's Pride but very satisfying nonetheless. Productivity is average and size is medium to large. The big ones on the first couple of trusses have the best flavor. Has earned a permanent spot in my garden. Decent disease resistance too. I'd place this one right alongside Paul Robeson for flavor, at least for my palate. For true BLT heaven, grow this one with Pierce's Pride and Paul Robeson.

What are the pros? healthy, prolific

What are the cons? none so far

Review:

So it's May 15th and I already have 10 tomatoes on this plant- this was the earliest and most prolific producer so. The plant itself is healthy, sturdy and so far fairly compact compared to many of the other heirlooms. That said, I haven't seen/tasted the final product, but I'm impressed with the health and growth so much I felt I needed to give it a review. I'll update when my family has our first BLT!

Review:

This is one of the best tasting and most prolific large dark tomatoes. Impressive sizes and shapes, beautiful coloring, and excellent flavor. Absolutely the perfect BLT tomato. I sell these at our markets and people rave about them. Will definitely keep growing this one from here on out.
