What are the pros? uniform size, no sunburn
What are the cons? Avoid if desire deep red flesh
Amazing watermelon. One of the best tasting watermelons when fully ripe I would put it right there with the Ali Baba. Have been growing this my whole life and our seed has been passed on for almost 100 years. Thin rind, but tough. The flesh is pink and will not get deep red but will get full of sugar. Seeds are small but fruit can reach over 10 pounds easily even in the willamette valley. Keeps very well, takes at least 90 days to reach peak ripeness. Never have bought this seed from baker creek but I would highly recommend this variety to any watermelon lover especially if you live in the north. Also, for market growers it is called Ice Cream so it sells itself and the quality backs it up so it's a no brainer.
