What are the pros? Tasty, meaty, large
What are the cons? vines struggle under the weigh
We had nonstop rain from June to mid-July then nothing but heat and sun up until now. I planted one of these in partial shade and one in the regular tomato patch. The first half of summer was tough for all varieties in general. I sprayed neem oil twice a week to keep the blight/leaf spot at bay/control it, plus a lot of pruning of infected vines. These held up well. My purples really struggled (cherokee, robeson, tula) but these didn't. These held up better than most at the beginning but then struggled like all the others. They held up well overall. Now with the hot dry weather everything is rebounding (bushy at top/sparse and leggy at the bottom), these included. These were the last of all 22 plants to ripen. Just started to get some within the last few days. Taste is really good and balanced, surprisingly so. In a salad with some balsamic they were amazing. These were firmer with a tougher skin. They don't soften too much as they ripen. Vines can snap with the weight so caution.
