What are the pros? Color, extra nutrient, vigor
What are the cons? slow ripening
I started these seeds a little too soon so the were flowering when planted. The plant grew vigorously and seems to be producing lots of fruit. Then they sit on the plant a long time before ripening. Not sure if the "blue" compound reduces the ripening compound (ethylene) or not. The blue is on the skin of the tomato only, not inside. It's also blue on the surface of the stems and leaves so don't panic about phosphorus deficiency without taking a closer look. As for flavor, i found them to taste about the same as my red current tomatoes. They are beautiful and colorful additions to salad. They are supposed to keep longer than other ripe tomatoes, but at this point I wouldn't know. It's early in the season so my garden tomatoes don't last long.
