What are the pros? good flavor, sweet, thin skin
What are the cons? seems to require lots of heat
Grew these this year, zone 7b.
I like these about the same as sweet millions. They aren't quite as sweet [still pretty sweet], but they have a more complex flavor to them vs raw sugar. The skin melts away in the mouth and they're easy for snacking.
The main issue I noticed with them and from the other reviews I'm seeing is that these seem to need some good summer heat before they really start to sweeten up.The first harvest of these made me consider tearing them out since they had almost no sweetness to them. Come the second harvest [once we were consistently in mid 90's ] and I was shocked at how good they were.
These things also wanted to vine out everywhere. One of them managed to sneak out a shoot in the back and ended up taking over a chunk of the area surrounding the garden all by itself haha. With proper pruning, they get into a very thick and health looking bush and are prolific.
I have added these to my yearly list and will be happily growing them from now on.
