Compact plants yield tender, blue-green, crinkled leaves that are quite delicious, very cold hardy, and rich in vitamin A.

What are the pros? Very bug resistant, easy care

What are the cons? slow starter

Review:

I grew these this summer, and although they had a slow start compared to other kales, slow and steady wins the race. These have required no care once they took off. Huge quantities of tasty leaves -- perfect for kale chips or dehydrating to make kale powder. Also good sauteed with onion and garlic.

What are the pros? easy to grow, fast, tasty

What are the cons? nothing

Review:

I had great success with these. Started seeds indoors and then transplanted them to my front beds. I now have kale coming out of my ears. Will def plant again next year.

What are the pros? Easy, yummy

What are the cons? Occasional cabbage moth

Review:

Great for use in salad and on sandwiches. Produces spring through winter. Young leaves are not bitter in summer but tougher than lettuce. Great for salads in summer. Transplant easily. Cabbage moths don't bother them much even though they decimate my broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage. Plenty of seed

What are the pros? Plant it and forget it

What are the cons? Bugs seem to like it in Ca

Review:

I planted this a year ago and nothing happened. When my plants started popping up this growing season this one gave me a surprise. Ours doesn't have the purplish blue stems but it seems to be happy and continues to grow!

Love this kale

What are the pros? Mild, bug resistant

What are the cons? Poor germination, small plant

Review:

I really like this kale a lot mostly because it resists all the bugs that attacked my other kales. My only real dislike is that I don't have enough due to poor germination, and such a small plant. Less than 1 foot tall compared to my 3 foot tall Red Jack Kale.
