What are the pros? All-Star vine!
What are the cons? NO WAY!
3 years ago I purchased a packet of each Boston and National picklers, and planted them in separate 6-packs, labeling each one appropriately. Over the next 4 weeks, the "sharpie" ink came off the plastic markers, so I had no idea which was which any more. Planted them in our raised bed garden, one pack per side. Well…. they took off like someone was chasing them. That year we had such a bumper crop that I made some bread-and-butter pickles, and the family went wild! Next year I planted them both again, this time making sure labels survived the watering. We set them one per side as the previous year, and watched them go at it again. That year Boston was first to the top, and the vine made it over the beams and to the other side-HAD to be close to 10-ft long. Pickles were hanging off the archway by the dozens. I got a 3-gallon crock and had 5 12-pound batches, not counting what we gave away and consumed. Good mildew resistance too!
