70-75 days. A pre-1930 variety introduced by H.W. Buckbee of Rockford, Illinois. Their 1930 catalog states, "The largest fruited, the smoothest, the finest in quality of all early scarlet tomatoes." Not as early as 50 days, but this is indeed a good producer that has an old-fashioned tomato taste; red and medium-sized.

What are the pros? taste

What are the cons? none

Review:

This is one of my favorite types, I have had 2 of these in my garden every year for the last 10 years. I never gotten less than 5 lbs off a plant. It's always the first to ripen and always the first onto a piece of toasted sourdough.

What are the pros? excellent size and flavor

What are the cons? extremely slow to mature

Review:

This tomato ripened very slowly. For me. My type was producing like crazy and this one was still green. It formed one or two tomatoes per plant. I finally picked two plants tomatoes [3 tomatoes] near September and stopped watering. The heavy rain caused the plants to suddenly produce 20 flowers between them but by then, it was too late in the season. I did have 100% germination. The taste was excellent but very hard to produce and ripen.

Review:

I had high hopes for this plant. The fruits were medium sized, but they cracked readily. Not a big producer either. It is closer to a 75 day tomato.
