(C. maxima) 100 days A superb example of open-pollinated breeding in the old Soviet Union! Bred to be dry-farmed by the Ukrainian Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the fruits are very thick-fleshed, and reach a workable 4-10 lbs. Attractive fruits are flattened, sometimes slightly segmented, of gray or light gray color; some having pale pink spots. Bylinka has documented disease resistance (anthracnose and powdery mildew). Our grower reports excellent production!

What are the pros? Very sweet squash flavor

What are the cons? Not many squash per plant

Review:

The Bylinka has now become the main squash we grow for public sale, with some people even saying it's some or even best squash they ever had. Good for the Organic gardener. Only problem was the squash vine bore. Very disease resistance. They need room to grow, so I do not recommend Bylinka squash for small gardens. Easy to save seeds and in 2016 we got our first 15 lbs. Bylinka

What are the pros? Flavor, flesh color, texture

What are the cons? Not exciting looking outside

Review:

I haven't grown these yet, since I can't find the seed. But we did acquire a squash and cooked it stuffed with sausage. It was absolutely fantastic. Very sweet with good squash flavor, terrific texture, good moisture level. Really good.
