What are the pros? Produces all season, into fall
What are the cons? Smaller central head
I have grown this heirloom for years in New Hampshire, and in Montana. No matter whether acidic, moist rich loam or alkaline dry clay, it consistently produces reasonably early with a 6" central head, then shoots side sprouts all the rest of the season, past frost, getting tastier as it goes! The side shoots are good-sized for cooking or salads and delicious! They come so fast, it is hard to keep ahead of them from bolting. I love that I don't have to succession plant to have a continual supply of delicious broccoli all season long. It is carefree, except for cabbage worms... Suggest floating row cover, or occasional sprinkling of wood ash.
