An attractive Old South (pre-1850s) cowpea with a distinctive red patch on one side. A runner type for small field culture, the 5 to 6 foot vines produce two 6 to 6 ½ inch pods per cluster. Each pod yields about 13 seeds. Highly productive plants. Deep pinkish red peas dry to a dark maroon brown color. This cowpea has an excellent nutty flavor.
