South Mountain Gardener
What are the pros? thin, straight, long producer
What are the cons? sometimes grows butt-end up
This is a new variety for me. I've always been a Blue Lake girl. BUT, this is my new favorite! I've been pleasantly surprised at how long these beans stay thin and tender on the plant. No strings at all. It's a great variety for someone who doesn't have the time to pick every other day. That'd be me. They began producing a month ago and are still setting many blooms. The picking season is long and forgiving. Some pods have been up to 9" long but still relatively thin! The only thing I don't care for is that they sometimes grow butt-end up. This makes them a little slower to pick. You have to find the attached end. This may be because they're planted a little close though. I did kinda jam them in a 4'x6' garden square. Next year they'll have more space and I'll try to update my review then. Right now I'm absolutely loving them! Thanks, Baker Creek Seeds!
