(Celosia plumosa) To 28-48 inches. Full-sized plume-type celosia. The soft, feathery plumes come in the most outrageous range of near-neon colors! Arresting at the back of the border; sensational in arrangements. Holds color well as a dried flower. Summer garden workhorse thrives in heat and dry conditions

What are the pros? great price! the web pic

What are the cons? all one color

Review:

I planted these very early in the Spring, as early as I could...I believe I live in zone 5 but we had a late frost in May and early June!! I know crazy right. And it was a cold summer start then turned into a rainy hot humid summer by mid July. So after the weather started warming up again near late June I decided to plant some more. They are growing pretty fast and they are blooming I don't know how tall they will get but all the plumes so far are a burgundy color. I hope to get more colors in there but even with the burgundy/maroon I will be pleased.

What are the pros? Easy germination rate

What are the cons? Small size

Review:

The germination rate was great! I'd say 75-95% but they didn't seem to like where I put them. They went in a bed with gladiolas, Mexican petunias, Dianthus and African Daisey, they all have done rather well, but these just grew to about 6 in and put off tiny little tufts of muted color. I will try again this year, but not in that same bed!

What are the pros? Easy to Grow - Huge!

What are the cons? All same color

Review:

I loved this Celosia. I'd always wanted to grow Celosia and never had any luck growing it in pots. Planted about 1/2 this package in most of it is 4 feet tall, with a couple of plants 5 feet. Beautiful. Some plumes are huge! My only disappointment was that there was no variety in color. It's all a deep rose/pink/burgundy color, but no yellows or oranges like on the pkg. I still love it though. Will plant more next year. :)

What are the cons? wish it did re-seed some

Review:

I'm glad to see Baker Seeds carrying this variety. One of our favorite Master Gardener varieties for the garden and for flower arranging. Germinates easily, long lasting in the garden and vase. Beautiful colors!
