75 days. One of the sweetest, this variety was introduced in 1929 and is a large stump-rooted carrot with a deep red-orange center, great for juicing or fresh eating. A good market variety that is smooth and refined in shape.

What are the pros? Great flavor

What are the cons? Really needs loose soil

Review:

This carrot has a great sweet flavor. I actually had one freak carrot grow to the diameter of a soda can. It was one that got lost when the weeds over ran my garden last year. When life got too busy for the garden I still got rewarded! These carrots grow best in loose compost like soil. Most of mine grew to 1 and half inches in diameter and about 8" in length.

Review:

This was a good, basic carrot for me, though nothing special. I grew these last summer alongside the Amarillo (yellow) variety also from Baker Creek and, while the Chantenay were good on their own, they couldn't hold a candle to the Amarillo which was much more tender and sweet and matured more quickly.

Review:

This little carrot does great in our heavy North Mississippi soil. Sweet and delicious, the short and straight roots look gorgeous on our farmers market table. It also seems to germinate much faster than any of the other carrots we have grown. A must for southern growers.
