Charentsvan Pepo Squash, (Cucurbita pepo)
All over Eastern Europe and the Caucasus region of the former Soviet Union, one will find local variations of this squash. The Charentsvan Pepo was collected from a little old lady in Charentsvan, Armenia, who said that she had been planting it for decades. It makes a large squash that is very attractive. In Armenia these squash are used for both the flesh in stews and also for the oil-rich nutritious seeds. A rare heirloom; please save and share the seeds!
