I am in South Dakota; Zone 4/5. These beets were grown in a raised planter box and grow fast without much fuss. This beet has a mild, somewhat nutty flavor. It is good steamed, baked, roasted or grated raw in a salad. My favorite use for them is to chop them in small chunks with yellow squash and zucchini in the bottom of a baking pan. Add a little gravy, cheese and chopped cooked chicken and top with mashed potatoes. Bake about 30 minutes at 350. Delicious. There are never any leftovers. I froze some last year and they froze well; sliced and grated. A very tasty vegetable. It is very different tasting from a red beet; more mild without the earth taste. Very pretty and the greens are tasty if used when they are young.
