Developed by Ukrainian amateur breeder Fedor Tarasenko. The name means “Black Tarasenko” in Russian. The fruits tend to be large, sometimes exceeding one pound, oblate and often sumptuously lobed, purple-bronze, and show occasional green shoulders. Their flavor is very good, being aromatic and unusually sweet for a purple type. Original seed was sent by our friend Andrey Baranovsky, of Minsk, Belorus.
