What are the pros?
What are the cons?
Fantastic, deepest sky blue with faintly darker blue starfish-shaped streaking. Throat is white, with a bit of yellow. (A unique color in the late Summer/Fall garden, when most everything else seems to be some shade of red, yellow, orange.) Vines purple colored. Medium green leaves. Germination was easy. (After scuffing the seed coats with some sandpaper, planted them in 2" plastic pots on a heat mat.) Grew a half dozen seedlings in a six gallon pot with a tripod made from three eight foot long cedar 1x1's. They pretty much flowered along the entire height of the trellis. The numerous blooms each last exactly one day, close quickly after noon, and drop by day three; no deadheading necessary. A small amount of high phosphorous fertilizer keeps the flowers coming for weeks. Morning sun, or dappled light and bright shade seems to intensify the color, and prolong the life of the blooms. They don't enjoy baking afternoon heat.

I grew these last year, the flowers were large, sky blue, and bloomed both day and night. Seemed like they opened at night tho, and lasted 24 hours. Prolific flowers once the temps got below 90, but unfortunately I got no seeds at all - the plants produced seed pods, but they never "cured". They looked more like fleshy bulbs instead. Am going to try them again this year....
