This one is causing excitement at farmers’ markets. Carrots have bright purple skin and flesh that comes in shades of yellow and orange. Spicy and sweet-tasting roots are great for marketing.

What are the pros? Taste Delicious, Beautiful

What are the cons? Took a long time to mature

Review:

We planted these carrots around memorial day and just harvested them yesterday evening. These carrots are beautiful and taste delicious. We did have some crowding which contributed to some of the carrots being smaller (tiny seeds are hard!) but otherwise they look great! The only downside is we felt that they took a long time to mature in comparison to some of the other varieties we planted. If you're willing to be patient these are the carrot for you!

What are the pros? Color, flavor, market favorite

What are the cons? Splitting, eratic germination

Review:

I absolutely love this carrot--the colors, texture, and flavor (raw or cooked). It sells like hotcakes at the market. My only problems are related to germination. I had zero germination this year, and in past years, germination was somewhat spotty. I had one year when they germinated like rabbits! They do have a tendency to split, but it does not affect the flavor. We save those for us and sell the non-split ones at market. Unfortunately, we will not have a crop this year, but I won't give up on them. They are that good!

What are the pros? Flavor, size, color, flavor!

What are the cons? None

Review:

These little treasures r hands down the best carrots I've growen yet! I live right on the U.S. / Canada border so we have a short growing season but they did great! I am ordering a bulk pack this year so I can share with my mom. The kids loved them! The color is fun in salads! We have very clay soil here and they grew very well. Better than the Orange and white varieties I planted! They r super carrots!!!!

What are the pros? Grows well and tastes great!

What are the cons? Has a tendency to split.

Review:

We have grown these early and late and they grew fine both times. As a matter of fact I left some in the ground and ended up not digging them out until January or February and they were fabulous! The only issue these have is that they have a tendency to split, but even the spit ones are still fine to eat mostly.

What are the pros? Everything

What are the cons? Nothing

Review:

I have grown these carrots for the last two years and they are wonderful and easy to grow. Even when I let them get too large, they were a fine carrot. Two years ago I threw the late fall (overly large) harvest in a sand pit and covered it with leaves and an old door and they kept beautifully all winter. Folks love the color and it looks cool in salads - they are a fine tasting carrot as well.
