What are the pros? The fantastically SWEET flavor

What are the cons? None!

Review:

This is hands down the best flavored carrot we have ever grown. They attained good size in some cases got huge. There were a few that cracked, but not many and we felt it was more do to our late digging and the weather. With the ones that got huge, my first thought was, well, these are going to be too woody to eat...but not so. They were still great and no woody stringy core. The flavor was incredibly sweet with spice like subtle accents, I started out canning them, but think I will switch to freezing as the canning process took away some of the sweet flavor....still good, but these gems are so fantastic that I will give up the freezer "real estate" for them!

What are the pros? Colorful, unique flavor, hardy

What are the cons? Tops weak and brittle

Review:

Planted these in zone 4 around the 1st week of June. Made sure to pay attention to spacing this year, since last year I didn't and ended up with scraggly, inedible little things. This year was one of the hottest and driest yet. I was good at keeping them watered at first, but slacked off once they got going and on through the hottest part of summer. I dug trenches, filled with horse manure and tamped down so they would get length. Let them go until October. I will admit, this variety was the only one that the TOPS were wilted and weak compared to other varieties I planted (tops were purplish, which may have something scientific to do with it). This did not effect the carrot's performance, it just meant I couldn't just pull them up out of the ground. Flavor is somewhat spicy and coloring is like a bullseye throughout and is striking shredded in slaws or sliced in stir fry, but tends to lose color when overcooked. This variety is shorter than others, but tend to be fatter. No splits.

What are the pros? Taste

What are the cons? Takes longer to mature.

Review:

These are very sweet and delicious! I have tried other purple carrots before that were bitter but these are not. They do take awhile to mature, at least in my northern region. That's okay with me, I grow other types of carrots along side these and wait to harvest these in the fall.

What are the pros? Taste Delicious, Beautiful

What are the cons? Took a long time to mature

Review:

We planted these carrots around memorial day and just harvested them yesterday evening. These carrots are beautiful and taste delicious. We did have some crowding which contributed to some of the carrots being smaller (tiny seeds are hard!) but otherwise they look great! The only downside is we felt that they took a long time to mature in comparison to some of the other varieties we planted. If you're willing to be patient these are the carrot for you!

What are the pros? Color, flavor, market favorite

What are the cons? Splitting, eratic germination

Review:

I absolutely love this carrot--the colors, texture, and flavor (raw or cooked). It sells like hotcakes at the market. My only problems are related to germination. I had zero germination this year, and in past years, germination was somewhat spotty. I had one year when they germinated like rabbits! They do have a tendency to split, but it does not affect the flavor. We save those for us and sell the non-split ones at market. Unfortunately, we will not have a crop this year, but I won't give up on them. They are that good!
