What are the pros? Good bugs, very pretty
What are the cons? Once done, they're done
I bought my seeds somewhere else, but I saw all the negative reviews, and felt bad for what is actually a pretty nice plant. If you direct sow the seeds, and provide plenty of water till established, they'll grow.
At first, there's only leaves, then suddenly there's a stalk, then suddenly there's a ton of beautiful fairy flowers that attract bees, butterflies and parasitic wasps.
If you stay on top of deadheading, you'll get a longer bloom time. If not, then they'll eventually yellow, and if you're not careful, self seed generously.
If you have too many come up, they're very easy to pull out. They provide a nice backdrop to more strongly colored flowers, and dry nicely. I mostly grow them for my sister, who enjoys the light and graceful appearance they impart.
