What are the cons? skinny root

Review:

Planted in fall and overwintered to pull in the spring. Fine flavored and easy to grow. Interesting shape therefore could not mistake what it was.

This beet is the best! Every year we look forward to our crapaudines! They look like bark when you pull them out of the ground, but are beautiful once peeled. I am in NW Oregon, and they have not perfomed well on cool years, but over winter well.

The texture of the skin is very interesting. The history of being the oldest beet is cool too. Very red flesh. I was so exited about the skin last year when harvested and rinsed. I'll be planting again for sure!

these beets were eventually amazing, but took a whole 'nother 30 days or so to mature than any other variety. when picked young, they're kinda stringy. stringiness disappears, if you wait that extra four weeks or so.

Review:

While they were slow growing and the greens were small, they are amazing baked, just wrap several cleaned beets in foil with some olive or grape seed oil and a pinch of kosher salt til tender, and slip the peels off in a paper towel, and enjoy! they are great one endive salad, as the sweet plays off the slight bitter green. Will definately grow again!
