55 days. Introduced to this country in 1869 and trialed by Peter Henderson, who recommended it in 1871. This improved “Crosby’s” strain was first offered by J. H. Gregory. This beet is early, tender, & fine flavored.

What are the pros? Good taste, pretty hardy

What are the cons? not as sweet as bulls blood

Review:

Tried these in my first year garden. Soil isn't the best yet, but these grew well for the most part after getting past a bad, cold, wet spring last year. They did best in a raised bed that I had because my soil in the garden was still mostly clay as we are in process of working it still at our new place. I picked these small and big and liked the flavor of both. I grew 3 batches with one seed packet throughout the summer and my second and third batch was the best. I even dug one that I left in the raised bed out in November after many frosts and shredded raw to put on top of a green salad. Still was good. :) They also were good for eating the beet greens but I wouldn't recommend eating the huge leaves, just small to medium sized. These grew faster and bigger than the bulls blood beet from this company, although bulls blood beet does taste sweeter and better, but didn't grow as well in my garden.

Review:

This has become one of our favorite beets. We will be planting it every year. Great beet flavor without the dirt aftertaste. And SO tender! Easy to grow here in western central Missouri.

What are the pros? great flavor doesn't get woody

What are the cons? None

Review:

This variety is one of the best that I've planted. Love the fact that it doesn't get woody if left in the ground. Its easy to grow and tastes great. Not earthy. Highly recommend it. Its one variety I grow every heart. Tolerates heat well. I live in southern Ca.
