What are the pros? Easy to sprout
What are the cons? None
I've grown this corn for the past two years. The first year I got the most beautiful ear of deep red/purple/black corn. The second year, ants demolished all of my corn. I went back and bought another pack of this seed because I like it.

What are the cons? They did bend over.
This popcorn was a wonderful find. Very delicious and easy to grow. I'm planning to double my purchase this year!

Hi: To get the rate of popped kernels up, try not taking the corn off the ears until its really dry and rubs off very easily. For me in Montana I leave it to dry in the dry basement in front of a sunny window until about November 15. It seems like if I try to shell it off too early it pulls a strand of material out of the kernel and makes a hole that lets out the pressure when its heated. I might be all wrong so try it and see. Its hard to resist shelling it out too early because its so fun. Also try to get it planted early in the season and in the fall leave it on the stalks until they are brown and dry so you get the full growing cycle of the plant finished before picking the corn. Good Luck

We grew this corn last year and it did very well here in central MI, zone 5b. The germination rate was high but growth was a bit slow compared to sweetcorn and the plants and ears are a bit small. That said, the ears are beautiful and all mine came in black and popped quite well. Somewhere around 90-95% of the kernels popped and the flavor is great, it's exceptionally creamy and a little sweet. In fact this popcorn was so delicious that my son and I didn't even put salt or butter on it. We will definitely plant it again this spring.

Grew out really well. Germination was great, cobs were uniform and kernels evenly sized. Stunning. Will grow again!!
