Ivory-colored flour corn. Kernels are plump and surprisingly sweet. When harvested at the right time, this early variety even makes a fair sweet corn! But it really shines in corn bread, polenta, and more. Bred in North Dakota from Native American stock, our seed is grown in Aroostook County in the far north of Maine, so you know it is a great choice for short season climates. 4-6' plants make 1-2 ears each. Exceptional earliness combined with superior seedling vigor in cold soils.

What are the pros? SHORT SEASON, sweet big kernel

What are the cons? lots of weird ears

Review:

My area varies between zone 4b and 6b. This year I tried the Dakota Ivory as my last hope of ever being able to grow corn. It sure didn't disappoint! The stalks are very short, but productive. My dislike is that 20 percent didn't mature properly and the tassels morphed into the ear. NOT a farmer's market corn, but great for grinding. Definitely sweet and big kernels.
