What are the pros? bountiful, attractive

What are the cons? flavor

Review:

Our plants germinated well, were healthy and produced heavily. However, we have a really hot climate here, and I believe it was the reason that the cukes were so, so bitter. So far, less than 10% have been edible, but they are plentiful. I'm hoping that when our weather cools down that we'll have some to pickle, because the few that were good were really good - crisp, firm, and tasty.

What are the pros? Prolific plant

What are the cons? not uniform in size

Review:

We are having a very wet and cooler summer than in seasons past. I think this is key in the success I am having with my plants. I had nearly 100% germination when I did them in pots. The transfer to the ground also went well and I used the compost pots. The plants have really gone crazy and I have so many blossoms! We like the cucumbers raw and especially with our favorite pickle recipe. http://foodinjars.com/2009/08/garlic-dill-pickles/ We eat them as fridge pickles and canned. I cut them in circles and spears.

Review:

These were pretty good cukes, and we got quite a few out of them. They were hard to pick young, but even the large ones stayed firm and pickled well. Unfortunately, mid-July, the fines suddenly died for no obvious reason. They must have picked up a disease or pest or something. Otherwise, they grew quickly and were good.

Review:

Cukes have a mild flavour, crisp flesh. The skin is tough on the older cucumbers. I grew them for pickling, but also enjoyed some of the "almost full sized" ones. I found them to be a little tricky to harvest: they stayed tiny for a while before flowering, then they went from teeny to oversized in no time. They were also not very uniform. Even at the girkin stage, some were 3 inches long, and once they reached pickle-size, some were too long for a quart jar! The pickles are crisp and tasty.

I thought this was a perfect growing year for these but the fruit was tasteless both fresh and as a pickle. Pulled the plants out and will grow a different variety next year.
