50 days. Originally from Abundant Life Foundation. Very large, spreading, loose-leaf heads. Leaves are large, wavy-margined, suffused in burgundy. Nutty, crisp texture, bitter-free flavor. Slow to bolt, standing a very long time in the garden. Glorious!

What are the pros? tasty and heat-resistant

What are the cons? none

Review:

I found this lettuce to be prolific, tasty, and quite heat-tolerant. I planted it the last week of February, and the one plant I left for seed took forever to bolt in our hot summers here. Just now getting usable seed from it in August and will certainly plant it again in the fall.

What are the pros? texture, flavor, heads

What are the cons? nothing. it's perfect!

Review:

This lettuce germinated way better than any other lettuce we've had. You *will* want to spread them over a larger area than you would've thought, because the heads get HUGE! But you can still take your time picking them. They are completely bitter-free and have an excellent nutty earthy fresh flavor, even when they've been sitting in 85 degree weather for ages. The color is gorgeous, with outer leaves redder than inner leaves, giving a good mix in every salad. This lettuce ignored frost, hail, being stepped on by goats, us forgetting to water it for a week, it raining for a week, and the aforementioned very hot weather. It is bomb-proof. I'll only grow another lettuce if I find somebody to split the packet with; it just makes too much lettuce for us to try growing two varieties!

Review:

I have had great success with Devil's Ear Lettuce. I never really enjoyed lettuce until now. I have to say, this lettuce is not bitter at all! The red and green-colored leaves are attractive in the garden as well as in a salad. Thumbs Up!

Review:

Tennessee springs can be very fickle, we often go from a March snow straight to July-like temps in April. This loose, upright "romaine" held up very well. Great on sandwiches, as a wrap or chopped in with a salad mix.
