What are the pros? Good pickling cuke
What are the cons? Very aggressive vines
I'm growing this variety and Beit Alpha this year in a raised bed that has corner trellises on all 4 corners. I planted one corner with Double Yield and 2 corners with Beit Alpha. The vines of Double Yield are very aggressive and have run over the top of tomatoes in an adjacent bed, the small melons planted on the remaining corner trellis, the pepper plants in the center area and are covering just about everything around the area. They are a good pickling cucumber and I'm getting quite a few, but the Beit Alpha vines are easier to manage. If you have plenty of space and want pickling cukes, this might be a good variety to grow. Our summers are very hot and I haven't noticed bitterness yet in these, but I try to pick them fairly small.
