What are the pros? pretty
What are the cons? vulnerable to rust
I will never have enough space to grow enough sorgum to make it worthwhile to make syrup, but I really like the way this plant looks; however, late in the season I noticed a few stalks with rust. It tops out at between 4 to 7 feet, height appearing to depend on the amount of organic matter in the soil, so it makes a really pretty backdrop for shorter plants. The stalks dry easily so I'm enjoying them as fall decoration. Once it starts snowing, I plan to hang the seed heads out for the birds.
