From the area around Carrizo Springs and Eagle Pass, Texas. Productive plants are a favorite of the local farmer who grows this variety. A great okra that is less slimy than others; big pods are tender and delicious.

What are the pros? Prolific, hardy

What are the cons? It's woody & fibrous

Review:

This variety needs to be picked when pods are only 1-2 inches! If not, they are fibrous, woody and dry.

What are the pros? Delicious and hardy

What are the cons? Take a long time to germinate

Review:

I grew this okra last year and we loved the HUGE but delicious fat pods! So tender, very flavorful and not slimy at all. We ate ours every day saut?ed in olive oil with salt and pepper. They didn't want to germinate until it got very hot in July but then wow look out! They produced well into the fall, and like other reviewers said mine were at least 12 feet tall - big enough for the birds to hide in! I saved seeds for friends last year and I am ordering more because we will be planting at least twice as many!

What are the pros? tasty with interesting shape

What are the cons? got VERY tall

Review:

While the Eagle Pass Okra was not as prolific as Perkins, the interesting red and green foliage, deeply ridged pods were fun . Delicious taste and when sliced looked like stars in the pan! It started a bit slower than the Perkins, but soon passed it up in height. Sold well at Farmers Market

What are the pros? Taste, Texture

What are the cons? None

Review:

When I planted the Eagle Pass, I also planted Burgundy okra. A week after the Burgundy sprouted, I was starting to give up on the Eagle Pass. It finally came up ten days after the Burgundy. After that, there was no stopping it. Grasshoppers ate most of the leaves at first, but it just kept growing. It ended up over 10 feet tall, covered with okra all summer long. I loved the flavor and the texture of this okra. It even converted an okra hater to an okra liker (not quite a lover yet). I can't wait to grow even more next year!

What are the pros? Very Prolific

What are the cons? Slightly Itchy.

Review:

First time trying this variety and I'm impressed. Tall, branching, productive. Seem to be resistant to root knot nematodes. Very tasty and far less slime than other varieties I've tried. I'll plant more next year.
