55 days. This early heirloom was introduced in 1854. It produces loads of short, medium-green fruit over a very long season. They are mild and sweet in flavor. Uniform in shape and the vines are quite hardy, making it perfect for northern areas with short seasons: a great little cucumber for salads or pickles.

What are the pros? Crisp juicy & thin skin

What are the cons? Can't grow year round

Review:

This is the third year I have grown these Early Russian Cucumbers. I have grown them in my garden soil and also in containers with a trellis support. The pollinators seem to prefer these cucs over my other varieties. These plants bear for a very long time so I have not needed to make a second sowing. The cucs taste great! Crisp yet juicy with a nice thin skin. I grow these for fresh eating, haven't tried them for pickles.

What are the pros? early, great tasting

What are the cons? none

Review:

I have been growing this for 4 summers at 3700' elevation with short summers. I have never failed to have a good crop with just two hills and have sweet tasty cucumbers at least two to three weeks before anyone else. They make good pickles and are especially good fresh.

What are the pros? Very sweet, never bitter

What are the cons? none

Review:

I love this cucumber and grow it every year. It starts producing quickly, continues abundantly throughout the season, and has good disease resistance until late. It's at it's best at 4" - 6" long, when it's very sweet and tender, and it's never bitter.
