A very unique old heirloom with dark foliage and brilliant fire-red blossoms that are delicious in salads. It was popular in Victorian times.

Review:

I am confused - description says "fire-red" but the photo shows pumpkin-orange flowers. Not ordering because don't know what really going to receive... recommend sellers address the discrepancy. Had to put a rating so just chose middle star, but haven't actually grown them yet.

What are the pros? great for attracting aphids

What are the cons? A little hard to get started

Review:

I, too, had a little trouble getting many of my seeds to germinate. But the ones that did turned out fantastic. Really pretty, unique foliage and gorgeous flowers. Also, they really sucked in the aphids. I hated to sacrifice them, but that's why I bought them in the first place. This year I did not find ANY aphids on my tomato plants, as a result - the first time that's ever happened! I will definitely buy again.

Review:

We planted out half of our packet of these in large tubs alongside our squash plants and not a single seed germinated. I'll try the other half of the pack next year but plant them earlier and see if that makes a difference.
