This medium-sized tomato is one of our favorites for taste. It combines a rich flavor with beautiful red color and blemish-free skin. The plants are productive and, in our trials, seem to resist most of the common tomato pests. An old heirloom from the Black Forest region of Germany, this tomato deserves a place in every garden. Grown ecologically in New Jersey by the Experimental Farm Network.

What are the pros? Taste, reliability, beauty

What are the cons? Can't sing, can't dance

Review:

Eva Purple Ball is one of my top-ten must have tomatoes - and I've seen it land on a lot of other tomato-growers must have lists. It is very reliable and seems to be disease resistant. The most uniformly smooth and globe-shaped fruits. Rich flavor typical of pink tomatoes. Can't be beat.

Review:

I've grown many heirlooms of all sizes, shapes and colors from many countries, but Eva Purple Ball is the tomato I will never be without. It's a perfect round shape and a good size that will easily pop without chopping into a wide mouth canning jar. I don't can tomatoes I don't like to eat fresh, and this one has lovely deep pink flesh and good acidity. We use it for slicing, sandwiches, salads, tomato sauces and soups. Best of all, this is the tomato that stays beautiful on the vine when all the others have succumbed to stinkbugs and disease. I've grown other disease-resistant tomatoes, but they all sacrificed taste or texture. This one doesn't. Love this tomato.
