(Hesperis matronalis) This plant has naturalized in many parts of the US since it was introduced in the 1700s. Pretty, large, flower spikes of lilac-colored blooms that are fragrant at night. There is a shipping restriction to CT, we are not able to ship there.

What are the pros? Likes to take over

What are the cons? Dislikes other plants

Review:

This is considered an invasive species in Wisconsin. Please check your local restrictions and make sure it's not invasive where you are. It grows so well it suffocates native plants and can take over large areas very easily. If you want a similar plant, please check out phlox (though that can be thuggish as well, but not nearly as bad as dames rocket).

What are the pros? Beautiful soft scent. Showy.

What are the cons? Prone to mildew.

Review:

A favourite for many years. Love the soft sent, reseeds and transplants easily from the base of the plants (not a pest anywhere I have seen it). Blooms all spring from the second year plants. Tall and showy. The ONLY plant I will continue to grow even though it is susceptible to mildew in my dry climate. Grow it in a well ventilated area, well spaced, with moist soil to help prevent that.

What are the pros? great price, resistant

What are the cons? none so far

Review:

I just planted them this year around in-between fall/winter time, They're about 4 inches tall at the moment, but they are quite a resistant plant, because we've been having random kinds of weather (sometimes kind of warm, or really cold and rainy) and they've been growing through it all. i will say, i always do a little research before buying any seeds to plant (mainly because i want to know if they will do well in my growing zone) and with this plant it did say that it was a very adaptable, also i suggest trying to grow it in a bed by itself, because it likes to spread itself.
