Annual. Breadseed-type poppy in shades of red, purple, and pink. The papery blooms are so large and showy! And after blooming is done, large pods yield blue-gray poppy seeds, ideal for use in baking and confections. Simply sake the seeds out and store them; then use the empty pods in dried arrangements. At 3-4 feet in height, the brilliant flowers and prickly, gray-green foliage are quite a sight!

This my first year growing so I don't know how much they will reseed themselves. Lovely red and purple blooms, I even got a white one! Attracts lots of bees.

What are the pros? Don't know, just planted them

What are the cons? Not breadseed poppy

Review:

The description says "large pods yield blue-gray poppy seeds, ideal for use in baking..." but the seeds in the packet are tiny brown things, not at all like poppy seeds for baking. Maybe the flowers will be pretty, but definitely not what I thought I was purchasing.

What are the pros? Deep colors, some fringed

What are the cons? None!

Review:

These poppies have truly outdone themselves. I grew them in less than adequate soil and they still performed amazingly well. The colors are much deeper than other blends, and some have beautiful fringes. I'll definitely be growing these again.

What are the pros? easy and beautiful

What are the cons? none

Review:

I have these lovely flowers in full bloom in my yard. They are a very pretty pink flowers with lovely gray green foliage. They are doing well in my part-sun bed. They have grown about 2.5ft tall and have not disappointed in their show. My neighbor has some growing in her full-sun veggie garden, they look to be around 5ft tall! But still very lovely. What I also like about the Pepperbox Poppies is that the bees love to visit them. Their pink color is complimentary to other flowers in my garden, like lavender and sage.

What are the pros? Beautiful Bee Magnet

What are the cons? Zip, Zero, Nada

Review:

I've grown this particular poppy for several years. It's an outstanding variety with, as stated in the description, large showy flowers producing large seed pods. If not crowded, and under good conditions, the plants stand two to three feet tall with flowers reaching three to four feet. Just a single plant alone makes a striking addition to a garden in foliage and many flower stalks. Aside from its spectacular aesthetics, honey bees go absolutely wild for the blooms and I really like using it to help attract pollinators in my veggie patch. It also reseeds freely every year, but is easy to control.
