Medium height and superior leaf-to-stem ratio make this kale superior to most garden varieties, at least when it comes to growing livestock feed. May be grazed, cut and fed, or ensiled or stored in clamps or the root cellar. Also may be planted in patches for feeding game. Extreme winter hardiness.

What are the pros? Goats, Chickens, & Deer Loved!

What are the cons? none

Review:

Used Proteor Kale as part of the seed mix for several of our chicken & goat pastures in the fall of 2014, and it grew really well; despite our warmer, drier than normal conditions. The chickens and goats both loved the kale from the time the leaves were young & tender, even to when the leaves got a bit tougher in late winter. I also threw some seed out on part of our ranch that we hunt, and WOW...the deer went nuts for this kale! What really surprised me was that despite being grazed down early, the Proteor kale kept on producing all winter. That, combined with being a nutritious winter forage our picky animals actually love, have made Proteor Kale a "must plant" on our ranch!
