Old Austrian heirloom, the name means "speckled like a trout"; a superb, gorgeous romaine lettuce that is highly splashed in deep red. Very beautiful and tasty.

What are the pros? Makes a Salad Pretty!

What are the cons? Nothing!

Review:

This lettuce is a real marvel! The speckles and spots are grand! The taste is good and the plants can stand more heat than most lettuces. Truly a wonderful lettuce!

What are the pros? Tolerates heat AND cold

What are the cons? None

Review:

This is my favorite go-to lettuce: reliable germination, beautiful leaves and great flavor. Consistently survives the heat better than most, and I've even been able to easily over-winter it with a straw covering.

What are the pros? Crisp, tasty, beautiful

What are the cons? none

Review:

This pretty lettuce really dresses up a salad. Crispy, tangy, and easy to grow. Needs loose soil, with some compost mixed in. I grow it outside in spring and summer & transplant to greenhouse for winter. We are still eating salads with this lettuce this winter.

Beautiful, unique. Delicate flavor, sweet with mildly bitter aftertaste. My favorite lettuce.
