Review:

I was curious to grow a few "exotic" squash varieties from other regions. Galeux D'Eysines fit right into the mold especially after hearing that these were sourced from France. First, I opened the seed packet to sort the seeds for viability and health out of the starting gate. I was shocked to find many cracked seeds, small seeds and even empty ones. Out of the roughly 32 seeds I ended up with 5 larger, healthier, undamaged ones that all germinated. Do not let that discourage you from getting this variety because the reasoning behind my sorting is that our season lasts about 85-95 days if we're lucky and plants can take a light frost or upper 30s then we expand to 100-115 days. These guys took 36 degree temperatures like champions. I was limited to 1 squash per vine; however, ended up with a weight range between 9.5lbs and 19.75lbs. They are not uniform squash so expect inconsistencies in ripe fruit. Younger fruit smell and taste kind of like bananas and mature squash, muskmelon.
